He is there last year, snipers and tornadoes terrorized communities. the mad desire to 'create' life through cloning has ignited while abortion continues to destroy. many human beings (children and adults) are being murdered, violated and exploited for reasons beyond our wildest imaginations. president bush says that war with iraq is near and many of our troops in the armed forces have since left their families. the economy has weakened and the many businesses that are closing are leaving many jobless. seven astronauts perished as shuttle columbia disintegrated during its landing procedure. and yes, september 11, 2001 still cripples the very being of many people, causing anxiety, doubt and stress. so much has happened in just a short period of time. many of us are facing the toughest times of our lives. sometimes we get so beaten up by all the negatives around us that we find ourselves asking the question "where is God in all of this?" i'm guilty…i've been defeated (usually self-defeated) many times. however, i find myself needing to redirect my attention to a different question: "where is God in my life?" i read a scripture the other day that spoke to me so simply. it reminded me that God is everywhere; in every situation. whether we sense Him or not and whether we believe it or not, He is in control! God's voice
thunders in marvelous ways; He does great things beyond our understanding.
He says to the snow, `fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, `be a mighty
downpour.' so that all men He has made may know His work, He stops every man
from his labor. our God is an awesome God! He has the power to make the snow fall and the rain pour and the power to make our lives stand still even for a millisecond. we all have had those moments when everything in our lives stop due to a situation that reared its not-so-pretty head. we're sometimes glued to the news as a nation, coming together with concerns as a community and other times we're paralyzed in silent fear alone. in these instances, God works dynamically at getting our attention. these are the moments when He desires for us to turn to Him first. when we find ourselves faced with life's disappointments and those self-defeating questions begin to take precedence in our minds, may our focus turn quickly to God. there is something to be learned in every situation; good and bad. but, as long as our eyes are focused on the Saviour and not on our situation, we will be able to seek and find that blessing God intended for us to have. recuperating from: acute optical impairment (a momentary loss of one's focus on God), tamara |
