a breath of fresh example

last monday night, i was a participant of a unique worship experience. when i was invited, i didn't know what to expect. so, i arrived with an open mind and a cheerful heart. the service took place in the basement of a Christian family's home and before i knew it, i was led into worship by teenagers. it was awesome! i had never experienced anything like this before.

so why was i so touched? one major reason was that i had felt the presence of the Holy Spirit in that small room. i then envisioned God with a huge smile and angels rejoicing at the genuine devotion of these young hearts. most teenagers today have great ministries right at the tips of their fingers. and this group took a firm hold of it-Praise God! they seemed young, but in the truest sense they were all ministers of God. with their hearts lifted up to Him, they were reaching out to others with the Truth and stepping out in faith, unashamedly.

in retrospect, i was reminded of a scripture from the first book of timothy. apostle paul wrote the following words to 30-year-young timothy (he was still considered a "young man" by his elders):

don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
1 timothy 4:12

paul stressed that timothy should give no one any reason to look down on him due to his young age. he was reminded to conduct himself in a manner that would prove himself to be a good example for the ministry. what an awesome responsibility! yet, that responsibility did not end there with timothy. Christians of all ages, past, present and future, are urged to live a life of good example.

even though i am almost twice their age, the examples set forth by those teenagers inspired me a great deal. in fact, our age doesn't tell our story. it is our spiritual growth and Christian example that paints the true picture of who we are in Christ. may we all be the example God would have us be and may we all continue to grow in the Grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

learning, loving and living by example,

tamara
